There are currently 4 Special schools, which provide support for children with special educational needs (1 primary EBD, 1 secondary SLD, 1 primary SLD and 1 all through MLD.) Increasingly, education for pupils with special educational needs is being provided in mainstream schools and a number of schools have specialist centres.
Hounslow's new Woodbridge Park Education Service opened from 1st September 2007 and incorporates the previous Wood Lane centre, Syon Park School and Bedfont Junior School SEBD unit. The Service delivers education to a range of children and young people who for a variety of reasons, are unable to access mainstream education and incorporates the Education Otherwise Than at School Service which includes home or hospital based tuition and support.
