These schemes are available in the majority of schools and are avenues for teachers to expand their careers in our borough. Chartered London Teacher Status
Chartered London Teacher Status (CLT) recognises and rewards London teachers who raise the achievements of pupils, challenge educational underachievement and demonstrate high levels of professional practice. Founded by the London Challenge strategy it will:
- Highlight the quality of the continuing professional development by London teachers,
- Recognise and reward the challenges and opportunities of teaching in London,
- Integrate with a teacher's daily work and duties,
- Award a lump sum of £1,000 on achievement of CLT status
- Offer scope to combine with further professional development activities and accreditation
- Build on best professional practice, including observation of others and teachers sharing experiences in the classroom.

The London Challenge
The former Prime Minister Tony Blair launched the London Challenge on 12th May 2003. It is a partnership between all those who seek more for London's young people and wish to establish the capital as a leader in education and a world class city for learning and creativity.
The crucial components:
- Transforming key London boroughs.
- Providing support for those schools on the frontline of breaking the link between disadvantage and low attainment
- Providing a better deal for London students, teachers, leaders and schools.

CPD for Prospective Leaders
Hounslow works with the National College of School Leadership (NCSL) to provide training opportunities, resources and support to those who wish to move into Senior Leadership, as well as exisiting Leaders.
